This Award is presented to an internal training team that has undertaken a major training project that is innovative in concept and has produced demonstrable performance improvement for the organisation. In particular, the judges will be seeking clear differentiators from other entrants to the Award, evidence of innovation and client satisfaction, and a strong proposition in response to the challenge "what was your contribution and value add to the success of the project?"
Your submission
You are requested to structure your submission in a way that covers the sections below; each section will be assessed by the judges during the short-listing phase and you will receive the judges' assessments for each section. There is a maximum of 3,000 words per submission - you are warned that only the first 3,000 words of your submission will be read.
- Overall Description - a description of the project and the organisation's goals for the project; include information on the overall scope, the project metrics, the timescales and key deliverables.
- Project Definition - consider the following points within your submission: how was the project initiated and commissioned?; how comprehensive was the initial project brief?; what role did your department have in the definition of the project?; what was the process for ensuring that what you were providing was what the commissioning department wanted?; what was the extent of change control within the project?
- Project Planning & Risk Management - ensure that, within this section, you set out your overall approach to project management, contingency planning and risk management with particular emphasis on management review as well as the commissioning department's involvement, acceptance and endorsement.
- Project Initiation & Development - describe the development process, timescales, resources, and budgetary considerations; what was the experience in terms of timeliness and cost effectiveness of the development programme? To what extent were your resources supplemented with resources external to the department?
- Project Introduction & Follow-up - what was the process for and experience of: project review and acceptance; user readiness; programme introduction; initial user experience?; what issues arose and how were they handled?
- Client Support - what commitments did your team make in terms of post implementation support, how was it delivered, and what was the commissioning department's experience of the support you provided?
- Post Project Review - what process did you follow at the end of the project and what were the key lessons that were learnt?
- Client Engagement - what approach did you follow to ensure that the commissioning department was engaged with the programme and how satisfied was the client with its effectiveness?
- Impact & Contribution - what evidence do you have that the project achieved its original goals and what contribution did it make to the organisation's overall performance?
- Achievements - what do you consider to be your core achievements on this project and why do you believe that this submission should be the Internal Training Project of the Year?
- Additional Comments - (NB this section is optional and although it will not assessed as part of the feedback process, it will be considered as part of your submission). In this section please add any additional points that you feel the judges should consider in evaluating your submission.
