We know that there are many questions you will have and this section is designed to answer most of them. However, we believe in working with you closely, so we will ask to have a couple of meetings with you both to ensure that we have everything planned ready for your special day.
How discreet is your filming?
We realise that many people are 'camera shy' and so we ensure that we capture the day as discreetly as possible. This often means that we stand back from the action and use powerful zoom on the cameras. We are always aware that it's your day and keep out of sight wherever possible. Most of our customers remark that they hardly noticed us on the day, so we feel we have it about right!
How long is the finished video?
We believe that around 45 minutes to an hour is the maximum that a video should be. Sometimes it may be slightly longer or shorter depending on the best footage that is available. However, most weddings have 1 DVD on the Arrivals & Ceremony, plus 1 DVD of the Reception & Highlights of the Day. These 2 DVDs are packaged into 1 customised DVD presentation case.
Do you use lighting?
We rarely use lights as modern Digital Video High Definition cameras can cope with most lighting situations. However, in the case of a poorly lit church or reception room we will use minimal lighting where necessary.
Do you use background music? May I have my own choice?
Yes, we do use background music (eg. slow motion confetti sequences, highlights montage), for example, but you will always have the choice of music used. We are able to use your own favourite CD tracks to make it more personal. However, if we use non-royalty free music then you have to pay a small licence fee to the MCPS.
Do you use freelancers to film?
Definitely not. We believe that freelancers cannot produce the kind of footage that we produce. We only use our own highly skilled cameramen who are also highly trained and very experienced video editors. In this way we can guarantee the special 'White Dove Video quality standards' to your DVDs.
How soon after the Wedding will we receive the DVD?
We aim to get you the final version as soon as we can. In general, it takes between 4-6 weeks but in very busy periods it can take between 6-8 weeks.
How far in advance should we book?
Obviously, we get booked pretty far in advance, so our advice is to do it as soon as possible! Most couples will book 12 months in advance, but providing we have a spare slot we shall always do our best to accommodate you.
Will you need to see the venue?
This is a must for us as we will need to plan out the location of cameras and test the lighting in advance of your big day. Normally, we visit the venue with the couple so that we can ensure that we take the footage you want, as well as explaining where we shall be during the ceremony. In the case of the minister, we like to make contact and check that they are happy with our proposed camera location(s). We also think it vitally important that we make contact with your stills photographer so that we work as a team, do not tread on each other's toes, and together produce the photographs and video that is the best it can be.
When do you require payment?
We require a £150 deposit to secure your date. The final balance is due 2 weeks before the actual Wedding Day.
